A/Prof Sameer Viswanathan is an Australian trained orthopaedic surgeon. He completed his university studies at the University of Sydney and undertook his orthopaedic training in Queensland in 2007.
After working for a year as a Staff Specialist in Redcliffe, Queensland, Sameer returned home to Sydney where he completed two fellowships. The first was a hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship at Fairfield Hospital (Supervisor: A/Prof John Ireland) and the second was in Foot and Ankle surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital (Supervisors: Drs Andrew Wines and Les Grujic).
Since then Sameer set up a private practice in Campbelltown and Liverpool with a public appointment in Campbelltown Hospital. He is currently the Head of Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Campbelltown Hospital. He was appointed Conjoined Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Western Sydney University.
Sameer is an experienced hip, knee and ankle arthroplasty surgeon (joint replacement). He also performs a wide range of arthroscopic surgery (knee and ankle). Recent innovations include cartilage repair and transplantation. As part of his public hospital duties, Sameer has a wide range of experience in trauma surgery.
