Dr Wickramasinghe is an Ophthalmologist with over 14 years of experience in Ophthalmology. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, United Kingdom. He is a comprehensive Ophthalmologist with a particular interest in eye lid and Oculoplastic Surgery.
Sanditha is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons since 2014.
He graduated from University of Colombo with MBBS (honours) in 2003 and obtained postgraduate qualifications in 2010. He then completed his Fellowship training in North Wales in the UK (2012- 2014) where he gained more expertise in Cataract surgery, Medical Retina, Glaucoma and Oculoplastic surgery. He had further experience in Oculoplastic surgery in Liverpool.
Dr Wickramasinghe joined the Department of Ophthalmology at Royal Darwin Hospital in 2018 and has been serving the Territory since then. He was actively engaged in the outreach eye care programme and has a good understanding of the local culture. He is no stranger to patients in Katherine, Gove and most remote communities. He has also worked as a Fellow at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Westmead Hospitals in Sydney.
Dr Wickramasinghe performs cataract surgery, eyelid surgeries including removal of lumps, excision of periocular malignancies (removal of skin cancers around the eye), correction of droopy and baggy eyelids (blepharoplasty) and other surgeries.
