Dr Sarah Metz (previously Farrell) is a Queensland trained Orthopaedic surgeon, based in Brisbane, Australia. She has a special interest in Childrens' Orthopaedics and manages General Adult Orthopaedic conditions. She undertook her early medical training in Scotland before moving to beautiful Queensland in 2008 to complete her Specialist Orthopaedic training.
During her training she worked all over Queensland and even spent some time at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland, Oregon USA. After training she undertook additional specialist training in Paediatric Orthopaedics at British Columbia Childrens Hospital (BCCH) in Vancouver, Canada.
She has held a public appointment at Queensland Childrens Hospital since 2019. She works with her adult patients at Mater Adults in South Brisbane.
She has a keen interest in research and is involved in the international Hip Dysplasia Registry, the SLIP registry, and Cerebral Palsy Hip Outcomes Project (CHOPII). She is currently the principle investigator on an international Multicentre Randomized Control trial on Paediatric elbow fractures.
She collaborates on much of this research with the University of Queensland and Griffith University Medical and PhD students and is also actively involved in medical student teaching.
Dr Metz is a member of the Australian Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (APOS), the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association(AOA).
Dr Metz has special interests in childrens Orthopaedics.
