Dr Tolerton completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery with Honours at The University of Sydney in 2008, attaining a number of scholarships, prizes and awards including the Royal North Shore Hospital Medal.
She commenced her junior doctor training at Royal North Shore Hospital in 2009. During these junior years she completed a research thesis as part of the Master of Surgery at The University of Sydney and Research Fellowship in Hand Surgery at Sydney Hospital.
Dr Tolerton commenced her advanced training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2012 and obtained her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2017. At the completion of her training she joined an Interplast team in Laos as the recipient of the inaugural scholarship for the Australasian Foundation for Plastic Surgery International Registrar Program.
She subsequently commenced her postgraduate fellowship training in Hand & Upper Limb Surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney in 2017.
Internationally, Dr Tolerton undertook fellowships in Hand, Wrist and Microsurgery at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London; Erasmus MC and Sophia Children’s Hospital in Rotterdam; and Insitut de la Main in Paris. She also spent time at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in the UK and with Dr del Pinal in Spain.
