Dr Ali Alavi is a highly trained and experienced cranial and spinal neurosurgeon, holding fellowship from Royal college of surgeons of England (FRCS) and Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS)
He completed his Neurosurgery training in the United Kingdom, after working for many years in Cambridge, Birmingham and Nottingham as a clinical research fellow and specialist registrar. This was followed with a World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies-accredited skull base fellowship at the International Neuroscience Institute in Hannover, Germany. Dr Alavi gained further experience as a Royal College of Surgeons' Senior Clinical Fellow in Skull Base Neurosurgery in Leeds. In collaboration with Leeds university, he established the Leeds Endoscopic Anterior Skull Base Course and Endoscopic Skull Base Website
Dr Alavi has also worked as senior clinical fellow in complex spinal surgery at the world-renowned Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery, Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham.
He has a particular clinical interest and expertise in endoscopic and minimally-invasive skull base surgery, including pituitary, craniopharyngioma, chordoma, meningioma, epidermoid cysts, vestibular schwannoma (acoustic neuroma), as well as a range of other malignant and benign brain tumours. He is acclaimed for his research, having been awarded the “Pituitary Prize” by The Society of British Neurological Surgeons.
Dr Alavi performs minimally invasive spinal surgery for disc prolapse, spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis and experienced with neurosurgical procedures for pain management and spinal cord stimulation.
