Consultant Cardiologist at Murdoch and Perth (Mount Medical Centre), Dr Sharad Shetty is an expert in general cardiology, chest pain and coronary artery disease. He is an interventional cardiologist whose key interests include coronary angioplasty/stenting, renal denervation, renal artery stenting and valvuloplasty.
Sharad trained in Interventional Cardiology at the Royal Perth and Royal Melbourne Hospitals. He then completed a Fellowship in Vascular and Cardiac Interventions at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. This training included interventional treatment of renal artery stenosis and lower extremity claudication.
Dr Shetty is a Consultant Cardiologist and Interventional Cardiologist at Fiona Stanley Hospital and St John of God Murdoch and is the Director of Cardiology Training at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Dr Shetty performed the first renal denervation procedure for uncontrolled blood pressure in WA and has proctored and trained other cardiologists, locally and internationally, in this procedure. He also performed the first case in the world using the TIVUS ultrasound based renal denervation system.
Dr Shetty is actively involved in significant research in the area of cutting edge technologies and is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences. He currently consults from our Murdoch and Perth (Mount Medical Centre) rooms.
