A/Prof Shing Wong has been appointed as a Clinical Academic and Colorectal/ General Surgeon at Prince of Wales Public and Private Hospitals since 2005. He is the Head of the Colorectal Unit at Prince of Wales Hospital. Shing provides a range of services including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, robotic and laparoscopic colorectal resection, and general surgical operations (hernia, gallbladder, pilonidal sinus).
He has a particular interest in colorectal cancer and screening, anorectal diseases (anal pain and haemorrhoids) and advanced colonoscopy (difficult polypectomy, stricture dilatation and colonic stent). He completed his Bachelor of Medicine - Surgery with honours at University of Sydney in 1992, the General Surgical Fellowship in 2002 and the Australasian Post-fellowship Colorectal Training Program in 2004.
In 2007, he completed both his Master of Surgery (Colorectal) at University of Sydney and Graduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching at University of New South Wales (UNSW). Shing is appointed as a Senior Lecturer at University of NSW. He is enthusiastic about teaching and clinical research. He has been awarded "Best Consultant Clinical Teacher" at Prince of Wales Hospital twelve times. He was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning" prize by the Faculty of Medicine in 2007. He is the Course Convener responsible for the new Phase 3 Surgical Course at UNSW. His research output includes four book chapters, forty-two publications in peer-reviewed journals and multiple conference presentations.
