Dr Steven Hatzikostas

Dr Hatzikostas is one of Northpark Private’s longest-serving and most experienced obstetricians, delivering thousands of babies. He is highly experienced in Obstetrics, from high-risk pregnancies to VBACs and ‘normal’ pregnancies. One thing that his patients always remark on is his 24/7 availability by phone. His patients can call him anytime with questions or reassurance, he always answers the call.  Dr Hatzikostas provides a quality of care that really counts.

Dr Hatzikostas is a Medical graduate of the University of Melbourne, and he completed a Masters degree at The Howard Florey Institute of Experimental Physiology and Medicine whilst simultaneously completing his Medical degree.

His initial post graduate interest was in Internal Medicine and with the support and guidance of physicians at The Royal Melbourne Hospital he undertook 4 years of postgraduate Physician training. The desire to engage in both medicine and surgery was the reason he embarked on further training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Having obtained the Fellowship (FRANZCOG) Dr Hatzikostas worked in England for 3 years to gain overseas experience. he has now been a consultant for 30 years with a wealth of experience in dealing with complex obstetric and gynaecological problems.  He has worked at Northpark Private Hospital since 1997 and has been a part of the medical community in the Northern suburbs for a long time.

Dr Hatzikostas believes that a doctor’s reputation should be based on excellence in care provided, results achieved and patient experience. Consultations are comprehensive and management plans and alternative treatment options are discussed. Patients have been thankful regarding the time, humor, empathy and the medical experience they receive under his care.

Dr Hatzikostas is strongly engaged in keeping up to date with the latest research and quality guidelines. 

As an obstetrician with many years of experience he has a passion to provide the highest quality of care in both normal and complex pregnancies and in gynaecology. 

Dr Hatzikostas consulting rooms are located on site at Northpark Private Hospital and he continues working at The Royal Women’s Hospital and St Vincents as he has done since obtaining his Fellowship.

All Dr Hatzikostas obstetric patients have his mobile number and he is available to his obstetric patients 24 hours every day.
