Susan graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1996 and then completed her General Surgical Training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in 2003. She finished her Australian Colorectal Fellowship Program in 2008 where she worked in Australia, New Zealand and at the Cleveland Clinic in the United States. Whilst still in training, she has graduated with a Masters in Public Health from the University of Queensland. More recently Susan has completed a Graduate Certificate in University Teaching from the University of Melbourne.
Susan’s experience spans the spectrum of laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery, hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes, colonoscopy, anorectal and pelvic floor disorders.
She also has an interest in advanced minimally invasive surgery including VAAFT and HALRAR. As a female colorectal surgical expert she manages a pelvic floor laboratory which evaluates and offers treatment for pelvic disorders including faecal incontinence, obstructed defecation and prolapse.
Susan understands the sensitive nature of these disorders and therefore offers a female only service on request.
Susan holds the prestigious position of Examiner of the Court at the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS). She has also the secretary of the Victorian State Committee of RACS and at the Royal Melbourne Hospital where she is also an intern supervisor.
