Dr Mettyas graduated from the School of Medicine, Cairo University in 1999 and went on to attain his Master’s Degree in Orthopaedics and Trauma in 2005 while furthering his career in Egypt. Following this, he became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2006 and commenced work in the United Kingdom soon after.

Tamer relocated to Australia in 2009 and after completing his specialty Orthopaedic training in Queensland in 2021, he was awarded his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Dr Mettyas then undertook further advanced training in hand, wrist and microsurgery at Macquarie University Hospital, Sydney in 2021. This was followed by another subspeciality upper limb fellowship training in shoulder, elbow, and hand surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

Dr Mettyas consults and operates privately at Greenslopes Private Hospital and North West Private Hospital. Dr Mettyas is passionate about treating upper limb conditions and injuries with the focus of his practice on shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand surgery including open and arthroscopic procedures.

Tamer prides himself on his warm and compassionate nature. He has an easy-going and personable character. He deeply values his patients and is dedicated to working closely with them to ensure their surgical needs are prioritised.
