Dr Tani Brown is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and eye surgeon based on the Gold Coast. She has a particular interest in medical retina, uveitis and ocular inflammatory conditions of the eye.
Dr Brown completed her medical degree with honours at the University of Sydney in 2005. She then underwent her ophthalmology training at the Sydney Eye Hospital and completed her final year as a fellow in East Timor as part of the East Timor Eye Program. In 2017, Dr Brown was the Professorial Fellow at Sydney Eye Hospital focusing on uveitis and medical retina, gaining valuable experience in the management of complex medical and surgical conditions of the eye.
Dr Brown holds a Masters of Public Health in Tropical Medicine from James Cook University as well as postgraduate studies in ophthalmology from the University of Sydney. She has numerous publications in the Australian and international ophthalmic literature and has lectured and tutored in a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses at the University of Sydney, University of Western Sydney and, most recently, Bond University. She currently holds the positions of an Honorary Adjunct Assistant Professor at Bond University and Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney.
Dr Brown is a also a consultant ophthalmologist at the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health in Brisbane as well as at the Gold Coast University Hospital where she enjoys managing complicated ocular conditions and supervising and training ophthalmology registrars. She regularly volunteers with the East Timor Eye Program to provide ongoing teaching and support to the local eye health service.
