Dr Walid Barto

Dr Walid Barto obtained his medical degree at the University of Sydney before commencing basic surgical training at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. He completed his General Surgical Training at St Vincent's Hospital and was awarded the Royal Australasian College Fellowship in 2009. He undertook additional training in Colorectal Surgery at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne and at Westmead Hospital in 2010 as a fellow of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Barto focused his interest on Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal Cancer Surgery, Laparoscopic Hernia surgery, and Trans-anal Endoscopic Micro-surgery (TEMS).

He has published on modern surgical instrument design and holds a patent for a new laparoscopic instrument. Dr Barto was appointed as an Associate Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and more recently as a Lecturer at University of Sydney.
