Dr Warren Kennedy

Obstetrics, Gynaecology

Warren grew up in Townsville, North Queensland. Prior to commencing medical studies he completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours and went on to start a PhD at the University of Queensland. It didn’t take long to realise that pure research was not for him and he applied to undergo medical studies. During his first and second year of medical studies Warren completed his previous research as a Masters in Science. Warren completed his medical training, with Honours, at the University of Queensland in 1994. Six years of hospital jobs followed, including 2 years as a solo GP running a small country hospital in outback Queensland (Alpha). Warren then commenced a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (at Mackay) in order to improve his O&G skills in preparation for a career as a Rural GP. During that time he realised that full-time O&G work was going to be his future vocation and he subsequently commenced training in O&G in 2001 in Hobart. He spent the next 5 years in Tasmania. In 2006 he completed training at the Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne working as a Senior Registrar. In 2007 he completed further training as a Urogynaecology Fellow in a joint position with the Monash Medical Centre and the Mercy Hospital for Women. Warren commenced private practice in Hobart in 2008.

Warren is skilled in all areas related to general obstetrics and gynaecology and his aim is to provide a holistic approach. He has a special interest in assisting women with chronic pelvic pain. Warren assists patients with fertility issues in their journey towards attaining a successful pregnancy outcome. He is also involved with patients wishing to preserve their fertility. Warren performs advanced laparoscopic and vaginal surgery at the Hobart Private Hospital, including hysterectomies and prolapse repair.

Warren performs office gynaecological assessments and procedures including colposcopy, vulvar dermatological treatment (including lichen sclerosis), Mirena insertion and removal, and ultrasound.

Warren is married with three children (only one still at home). In his spare time he enjoys watching movies with his wife (the State Cinema in North Hobart is a favourite), taking their dogs on walks, gardening and photography.
