Mr Chris Hensman is a Specialist General surgeon with a focus on Upper GI and Bariatric surgery at Knox Private Hospital.
Associate Professor Chrys Hensman graduated in surgery from Monash University after which he undertook further advanced training in the United Kingdom in laparoscopic surgery. He gained his Australian Fellowship in surgery in 1994.

Robotic, General surgery, GI, Bariatric and Metabolic (Weight loss surgery), hernia, advanced minimally invasive surgery (Laparoscopic surgery) and Reflux monitoring.
He has published widely and been involved in the development of patents. His research interests include a Postdoctoral, and PhD in the new developments in Robotic console design & ergonomic benefits of robotic surgery in collaboration with Monash and Swinburne Universities, quality improvement in hernia surgery and the use of AI in surgeon training and credentialling.
He is the RACS representative on the TGA surgical mesh expert working group (SMEWG), Chrys is the Australian representative of the US based MD Epinet. He is also a member of the SAGES guidelines committee. He is a founding member of the ANZ hernia society and sponsor of the soon to launch ANZ hernia registry pilot.
Teaching duties include curriculum development & supervision of research projects of the University of Adelaide Masters in Minimally invasive surgery and RACS training of surgeons as well as Monash University final year undergraduates.
He founded LapSurgery Australia in 1998.
