Dr Monique Stone completed her undergraduate training in Medicine through the University of Sydney, she graduated in 1993 with first class honours. After her internship and residency she began her training in paediatrics at Sydney Children's Hospital. Monique has dual fellowships in general paediatrics and paediatric endocrinology. Her training also involved time at the Children's Hospital at Westmead, Westmead Adolescent Unit and Darwin.
While completing her training in paediatric endocrinology Monique completed a Doctor of Medicine at the UNSW, the topic of her thesis is insulin resistance in type 1 diabetes. Keen to learn more about research methodology, Monique completed a Master of Clinical Epidemiology and Master of Public Health.
Monique has worked as a staff specialist in paediatric endocrinology at RNSH and remains a VMO there. She has been in private practice since obtaining her fellowship. Monique also worked for the TGA for 8 years where she was involved registration of prescription medicines. Most of her time is now spent in private practice and teaching medical students and junior doctors. She has recently been appointed as a staff specialist at Campbelltown Hospital.
Monique values working together with children or young people and their family to optimise their health and well being. She has a strong interest in evidence based medicine.
